9 Ways to Entertain your Kids on a Rainy Day

9 Ways to Entertain your Kids on a Rainy Day

Indoor Activities for Kids on Rainy Days

Baking

There's no better way to spend a rainy day than in the kitchen! There are so many types of baking you can do with your kids on a rainy day. Cookies, muffins, brownies… there's really too many to name! Plus, it provides an opportunity for parents and children alike to learn about how their food is made. If you're not sure where to start, we recommend starting small by making some simple cookies together: sugar cookie dough is always delicious and tastes even more wonderful when eaten fresh from the oven while they're still warm.

Dance Party

What's more fun than a dance party?

Music and movement are always good for the soul, so whip up your favorite playlist or choose from one of our curated playlists to get everyone moving. Whether it be in front of the TV while watching their favorite movie, on the living room floor with snacks, or outside as long as there is no lightning present. The only limits are your imagination! Be sure you have plenty of drinks available nearby because things can get really hot when you're dancing around.

Save these guidelines for rainy days: "No Running." If there's any chance that someone will trip over something and fall then run inside right away until they've calmed down enough not to hurt themselves.

Board Games

When it's raining outside, there really isn't anything better than curling up on the couch with your favorite board game. You and your kids can play some of their favorites or you could head to a local toy store for a new one! There are so many fun games out there just waiting to be played by the whole family some of them includes Scrabble Jr, Monopoly Jr, Operation Junior Edition (for ages six and up), Jenga Junior Edition (ages six and up), Clue Junior Mystery Game (ages nine+) etcetera.

There’s no need for TV when you have these wonderful games in your home. The best part about these games is that they can be enjoyed by the whole family—even adults!

Kids of all ages love board games, so have fun with them.

Do a Science Experiment

Kids love learning, so why not do a science experiment?

Here are some simple experiments to try: baking soda and vinegar mix to make a volcano eruption or the classic cornstarch in water that creates an edible slime. These two recipes can be found on websites like Home Science Experiments for Kids by Dr. Rader's Science Stuff and DIY Projects for Kids - The Lazy Genius Club!

Although these projects may seem too messy for your liking at first glance, most of them involve only glue, food coloring/soda bottle caps, paper towel tubes etcetera, so it shouldn't get out of control—plus you might find yourself having as much fun with this project as they will!

Don't be afraid to get your hands dirty!

These experiments can teach kids all about science and how the world around them works. Plus, it's a great way for parents themselves to learn more too. Remember that anything you try won't work out perfectly—that is why they call it "experimenting."

Arts and Crafts

Arts and crafts are always a good time on any day, but especially so when it's raining outside.

You can try making some traditional arts and crafts like painting or drawing with your kids—or you could get more creative with things like creating slime (just make sure to have the ingredients ready before they ask). The possibilities for fun here are endless!

This is also an excellent opportunity for parents to spend one-on-one quality time with their children while teaching them how important creativity really is in today’s world. Arts and crafts allow us all to express our individuality through different types of mediums: colors, shapes etcetera. This type of expression doesn't only happen in art class, but can also happen at home with the help of parents.

Arts and crafts for kids are just good all-around—even if it's raining outside!

Apps

Apps are a great way to keep kids entertained indoors on a rainy day! Play Store has some wonderful apps that can be enjoyed by the whole family. Some of these include: Drawing with Jazza (ages three and up), Rayman Adventures (ages four and up) Coloring Kids HD, Snoopy's Magic Show, Noman Monster Truck Rally etcetera. Most importantly though, make sure you have an unlimited data plan for your phone because this is going to use it all when they're playing their favorite game or watching videos over Wi-Fi!

To prevent kids from hurting their neck and lower body, it is recommended to invest in multifunctional neck pillows. A very good example of this is Unravel Tech Cash, whose design provides children with the perfect viewing distance away from their screen while protecting their neck from stiffness and pain. Apart from that, it has a built-in cellphone holder, so your kids' hands won't get tired while playing their favorite games.

Storytelling

One of the most fun ways to keep kids entertained on a rainy day is by telling them stories.

It can be as simple as making up your own story or reading one you've already written out loud, but it will always bring an enjoyable smile and excitement from both children and parents alike. Reading aloud has been proven to help with vocabulary development in young children, so why not take advantage of this time and read some great books together?

The possibilities for storytelling are endless—you could use different stuffed toys or animal pillows to make it more realistic and exciting for the children.

Do Learning Activity

Another great idea on this list is a learning activity, which can be very fun and educational for both children and parents. This could involve anything from drawing an image of what they learned that day to how many words they know in Spanish. You could even use old boxes or pieces of paper with different shapes drawn on them to teach your child about geometry! There are no limits here—just be creative!

This will also help the parent understand more about their child's level of understanding as well as helping them grow their own vocabulary at the same time. So if you're looking for something new to try out today, make sure it involves some sort of "do" learning activity!

Watch Movies and TV Shows

If your kids are feeling creative, it is a great idea to put on some movies or TV shows that they might enjoy. This is the perfect time for parents and children to bond over something they love together! It's also an excellent opportunity for adults to watch content with their children without being distracted by other things going on in the background. So why not kick back, relax and enjoy this special moment?

Kids will always feel entertained if you're willing to let them be themselves—which means playing around with what makes them happy at that given moment. Don't worry about how boring rainy days may seem but instead have fun getting into new hobbies and activities like these! You never know when you'll stumble upon your child's new favorite game or hobby
